Creating a place to list ideas / requests for MCP tools (and anything else that MCP supports). Feel free to suggest additional features for existing or proposed tools.

Existing Tools

• Find packages :: provides access to WinGet package information
• Install package :: allows the agent to install a package and gets the "find package" result afterwards

Planned Tools

• Find DSC resources :: provide access to resources and details about them
• Configuration authoring :: depending on need, aid in authoring configuration documents

GetPackage could be useful to get the manifest information or package details and metadata such that it could be used in authoring a manifest

It might be valuable to explore whether WinGet could extend its configuration and package management capabilities to MCP tools.
For example, allowing a configuration file in the user folder to define MCP tools, and enabling search/install/configure from a registry (such as GitHub MCP Registry) via CLI. Additionally, providing a wrapper mechanism for developers to register their app’s built-in MCP tools systemwide could encourage interoperability, so that different apps on Windows can discover and cooperate with these tools in a unified way.
