This is a really simple and small Android Chat App that is inspired by HipChat. Note that this was built for tablets.

Features:

Create Public/Private Chat Rooms
Chat real-time with Firebase as the backend
Chat rooms have no limits how many users can chat
AutoComplete text field that shows online users in the active Chat Room when a user starts typing @.
Messages that contain the logged in username get color coded
