--source is ignored

I ran winget list --source msstore, and it lists all packages, regardless of source. To check I also ran it with --source winget, and that too lists all packages.

When running winget list I can clearly see that many packages have either an empty source field or it's set to winget. And only one program is installed from the Microsoft Store and this is also visible in this output from winget list.

Is winget broken on my machine? Or am I misunderstanding something?

Not a misunderstanding... this has been reported multiple times and never fixed (recently #6045), describing the same thing youare seeing. Worth a 👍/comment there instead of opening a new one.

#4236 was resolved by #6159 which is in the 1.29 preview builds

Confirmed fixed. Updated to v1.29.250 and reran:
winget list --source winget -> only shows winget-sourced packages now (was showing everything before, on 1.28.240).

winget list --source msstore -> now correctly shows just 4 packages (Discord, Free Download Manager, OBS Studio, VLC) instead of the full system list.
So @Trenly was right - #6159 does fix this, it's just not in stable yet. Thanks both!
