How can I use client applications and TOTP?

As soon as you have enabled TOTP (or any other Nextcloud two-factor auth provider), your clients will fail to connect if they are using your login password. In this case, you have to use app-specific passwords. Those can be generated on your personal settings page on your Nextcloud instance.
